Employment Update
It is with both sadness and excitement that I announce that I’ve decided to leave my position in SILS at Waseda University to take up another position at Musashino University beginning from April 1, 2024. It was a very difficult decision for me because I have served the SILS/Waseda academic community for most of the past 20+ years, but I had to do what was in the best interest of my family.

Unfortunately, this means that I will not be able to offer my regular courses at Waseda in the coming year, and I apologize to those of you students who had been planning to join these courses. I know many of you were counting on learning in these courses since as recently as the end of last semester I gave the impression that I would be offering them. Actually, at that time I was planning to remain at Waseda but things changed suddenly in February when I received another job offer that was too good to refuse.

For those of you Waseda students who are interested, I would be pleased to remain in touch and I will still happily mentor you moving forward even after I end my employment there. If you would like this then you can contact me at: spero@musashino-u.ac.jp
To all of my students at Waseda, I believe in all of you and your potential to leverage the education you have been privileged to receive in order to make positive and important contributions to society. For me, I’ll continue to carry out that same mission in my work at Musashino University and beyond. It has been a pleasure and honor working with you, and I hope we will meet again!

I wish you all the very best.

Sincerely,
Dr./Prof./Mr. Spero
